The Haryana health department on Thursday decided to further reduce the prices of RT-PCR and rapid antigen COVID-19 tests, an official said. The department also gave instructions to all private laboratories to refrain from overcharging, Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Rajeev Arora said. He said that the price of RT-PCR(Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction) testing has been reduced from Rs 1,200 to Rs 900 and rapid antigen testing has been reduced from Rs 650 to Rs 500. After due consideration and advice of experts taking into account the cost of the kits and consumables and consent of leading private laboratories, the state government while exercising its powers under the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, directed that no private laboratory should charge any amount more than the rates fixed by the government, inclusive of GST taxes, he said in a statement here.

Assam’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 923 after six more people succumbed to the disease on Thursday, while 398 new cases pushed the tally to 2,05,635, Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said. Of the fresh fatalities, two were reported Nagaon and one each from Lakhimpur, Sivasagar, Kokrajhar and Bishwanath districts, he said. “Very sad and anguished to inform that six more COVID positive patients have succumbed to the disease…My condolences to all the families. We stand by you in this hour of grief,” the minister said on Twitter. The current fatality ratio in the state is at 0.45 percent. The 398 new cases include 110 from Kamrup Metropolitan district.

Coronavirus News LIVE Updates: Ladakh records 61 new COVID-19 cases, one death

The Union Territory of Ladakh has reported 61 new COVID-19 cases and one more virus-related death, taking the infection case load to 6,085 and the fatalities to 74, officials said on Thursday. A total of 107 patients also recovered from the disease, bringing down the active cases to 643, they said. One patient, who had recently tested positive for coronavirus, died at a hospital in Leh, the officials said, adding that his death took the number of fatalities in the district to 36. The rest of the 38 deaths had taken place in Kargil. Of the new COVID-19 cases, 58 were reported in Leh and three in Kargil, they said. The officials said that 100 COVID-19 patients were discharged in Leh and seven others in Kargil after recovery. With this, the total number of recovered patients has gone up to 5,369, which is 87 per cent of the total caseload, they said.

Sikkim’s COVID-19 tally rose to 3,893 as 18 more people have tested positive for the infection in the last 24 hours, an official said on Thursday. East Sikkim district  reported 17 fresh cases, while South Sikkim registered one, state Information Education and Communication (IEC) Member Sonam Bhutia said. Sikkim now has 268 active COVID-19 cases, while 3,476 patients have been cured of the infection, 67 people died of the disease, and 82 have migrated to other states. East Sikkim has the highest number of COVID-19 cases at 2,890, followed by South Sikkim at 719, West Sikkim at 179 and North Sikkim at 23. The Himalayan state has so far tested 56,150 samples for COVID-19, the official added.

West Bengal on Thursday recorded the highest single-day recovery of 3,945 COVID-19 patients, taking the total number of cured people to 3,21,873, the health department said in a bulletin here. The discharge rate currently is 88.02 percent. The state’s coronavirus death toll mounted to 6,725 with 61 more patients succumbing to the disease. The bulletin said that the tally also rose to 3,65,692 after 3,989 people tested positive for the virus. West Bengal has 37,094 active cases at present, it said.

Odisha’s COVID-19 tally mounted to 2,87,099 on Thursday as 1,617 more people tested positive for the infection, a health department official said. Thirteen fresh fatalities pushed the coastal state’s coronavirus death toll to 1,297, he said. As many as 941 new cases were reported in quarantine centres, while 676 infections were detected during contact tracing, the official said. At least 1,908 patients were cured of the disease during the day, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,72,038, which is 94.75 percent of Odisha’s caseload, he said.

At least 395 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Jharkhand, pushing the state’s coronavirus caseload to 1,00,964 on Friday, a health official said. The COVID-19 death toll in the state rose to 883 with three more persons succumbing to the disease, he said. Ranchi district reported the highest number of new cases at 78, followed by East Singhbhum (61) and Dhanbad (50), the official said. Three fresh fatalities were reported in Ranchi, Ramgarh and Palamu districts, he said. The state now has 5,294 active coronavirus cases, while 94,787 people have recovered from the disease so far, the official said. Jharkhand has tested 31,564 samples for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, he added.

 Telangana reported 1,531 new COVID-19 cases taking the tally to 2,37,187 while sixmore deaths pushed the toll to 1,330, the state government said on Friday. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 293, followed by MedchalMalkajgiri (120) and Rangareddy (114) districts, it said in a bulletin, providing data as of PM on October 29. As many as 18,456 are under treatment and 43,790 samples were tested on October 29. Cumulatively, 42,40,748 samples have been tested. The samples tested per million population was 1,13,937, the bulletin said. The case fatality rate in the state was 0.56 per cent, while it was 1.5 per cent at the national level. The recovery rate in Telangana was 91.65 per cent, while it was 91 per cent in the country. The number of individuals in home/institutional isolation was15,425.

Coronavirus News LIVE Updates: 1,120 new coronavirus cases in Mumbai, 33 deaths

 

The tally of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai increased to 2,55,362 on Thursday with 1,120 new cases, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. The death toll in the city reached 10,186 with 33 fresh fatalities being reported, it said. The civic body said the city has 18,367 active COVID-19 patients. 1,824 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, which took the number of recovered patients to 2,26,041, about 88 per cent of the total caseload. The number of COVID-19 tests carried out in the city has crossed 14.98 lakh. Mumbai’s average doubling rate of COVID-19 cases has reached 149 days, while the average growth rate of cases has gone down to 0.46 per cent. 7,250 buildings in the city are sealed, while there are 606 containment zones in slums and chawls. The civic body seals buildings and declares containment zones on finding one or more COVID-19 cases.

Coronavirus News LIVE Updates: Bihar’s COVID-19 recovery rate increases to 95.55%

 

As many as 1,068 people were cured of COVID-19 in Bihar on Thursday, totalling 2,05,385 recoveries as of date, the health department said. With this, the recovery rate among coronavirus patients in the state has improved to 95.55 per cent, slightly up from 95.40 per cent on Wednesday, the department said in a bulletin. The state has so far tested 1.06 crore samples, including 1,31,357 samples in the past 24 hours, it said. However, a health department official expressed his inability to provide the number of rapid antigen, RTPCR and TrueNat tests.

India’s COVID-19 tally on Friday neared the 81-lakh mark, while the death toll crossed the 1.20 lakh mark. As per a PTI tally on Thursday at 9 pm, the total caseload stood at 80,85,161 with as many as 49,077 cases in a single day. The death toll increased by 566 in a day to an overall of 1,21,022. In its most recent update, the Union health ministry placed the total number of cases at 80,40,203 and the death toll at 1,20,527. The ministry said that 73,15,989 people have so far recovered from the infection.
