LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Publix stores will be administering the COVID-19 vaccine in Lee County and Charlotte County, Governor DeSantis announced in a press conference Tuesday.
DeSantis announced 32 Publix pharmacies will offer the COVID-19 vaccine throughout Lee County and seven locations in Charlotte County will offer the vaccine.
As of 7:02 a.m., all appointments for vaccines at Publix locations in Charlotte County are booked.

Lee and Charlotte Counties are joining 15 other Florida counties the Publix initiative has expanded to including:

Vaccines are designated for those 65 and older.
The initial pilot program launched in early January at 22 stores divided between Hernando, Citrus and Marion counties. Now, over 100 stores will be administering the Moderna vaccine.
Vaccinations are provided at no cost. Customers with insurance will need to bring their insurance card, and customers without insurance will need to provide their driver’s license or Social Security number, according to Publix.
Appointments can be made using the online reservation system beginning after 6 a.m. Jan. 20. Vaccinations will start on Thursday, Jan 21.
UPDATE: As of Wednesday at 6:30 a.m., NBC2 is receiving reports that the Publix vaccination site may be experiencing issues. While the site may show appointments are available, those trying to book report the site says “You are in the queue to book an appointment,” and refreshes often.
Vaccines will be given only to those who are eligible to receive the vaccine and have an appointment while supplies last, Publix officials said.
